OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD
FEBRUARY 16 - APRIL 16, 2010
Centralia School District's (CSD) open enrollment period is from February 16 through April 16, 2010. During this time, parents have the opportunity to request either an interdistrict transfer (from outside CSD) or an intradistrict transfer (from one school to another school within CSD). Forms and information about the process for requesting transfers may be obtained at the District office, the school offices, or the District's website at www.cesd.us.
The procedures for submitting an inter or intradistrict transfers are as follows:
• Obtain and complete the appropriate form (inter or intradistrict). Forms may be obtained at the District Office, school offices and online at www.cesd.us/open-enrollment
• Deliver your form to the District Office at 6625 La Palma Avenue, Building A, Buena Park, during the open enrollment period. On the first day of Open Enrollment, February 16th, the hours to accept transfers will be as follows: 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. After February 16th, permits will be accepted during regular office hours at the District Office. Please note that school offices will not process any requests.
• All transfer applications will be logged in the order received with the date and time noted. Parents will receive a receipt upon submission of the transfer request form. If permits are received by mail, they will be logged in as they are received, however, all requests received by mail will not be logged until the end of the day on February 16th even if they are received prior to the open enrollment period.
• Requests submitted after the deadline will be considered only after all applications received during the open enrollment period have been offered placements based on available space.
• Parents will receive notification at the end of the school year as to the disposition of their request for transfer.
For the 2010/11 school year, both existing interdistrict and intradistrict transfer permits must be resubmitted for approval. Students attending a school on an existing intradistrict permit will be given priority over any new applications.
The law provides that a school district may deem a pupil as having complied with the residency requirements for school attendance if one or both parents/ guardians of a student are employed within the boundaries of the district. An interdistrict transfer form must be completed for requests for transfer based on employment.
