  • School Starts August 30th.  Class list will be posted at the school and on line at 4:30 pm on Friday, August 27th.
  • San Marino Students' California Standards Test Scores rise for 5th year in a row!
  • San Marino has been recognized by the state of California as a "California Distinguished School."  We are one of only 79 schools in the state of California to be recognized as a Title 1 Academic Achieving School and a California Distinguished School.
  • San Marino has been given the "STAR School Award" by the "California Business and Education Excellence Foundation" for the 2010 school year.  This award recognizes San Marino as being an outstanding school over the last 4 years, raising achievement for all students by a significant amount.  Congradulations to our awesome teachers and staff.
  • San Marino was honored with a " California Title 1 Academic Achievement Award" on February 11, 2010.  The Superintendent of California Schools, Jack O'Connell, called Principal Helms to personally thank him and the entire staff for their hard work and service to the students at San Marino.  Again, outstanding job by our superlative staff.
  • San Marino recieves proclamation from California Legislature recognizing San Marino as one of California's distinguished Schools.

2010-2011

 

Because we will have fewer funds for supplies next year we are asking parents to send the following items to begin the school year.  You may be asked to send additional supplies to school as needed.  We know that this will be difficult for some families, so if you can send extra materials it would be greatly appreciated

 

Kindergarten

 

Box of Jumbo Crayons (8 count), 2 boxes of Kleenex, 12 or more Glue Sticks, Water-based Markers, 1 box Ziploc Gallon Bags, 1 box Ziploc Sandwich Bags, Large bottle of Elmer's White Glue, 1 pkg. Dinner Size Paper Plates, 1 pkg. Wipes, 1 Ream White Paper, Black Fine Point Dry Erase Markers.

1st Grade

 

6 No. 2 Pencils (not mechanical), Pink Rectangular Erasers (no pencil top erasers), Pkg. of Glue Sticks, 1 box Crayons (16), 1 Pencil Box, 1 pkg. Wipes, 1 box Ziploc Gallon Bags, 2 boxes of Kleenex, 1 pair children's Blunt End Scissors, 1 Ream White Copy Paper, Black Fine Point Dry Erase Markers.  Optional: Box of Water-Based Markers.  Please no rulers, colored pencils, pencil sharpener.

 

2nd Grade

Wipes, Black Fine Point Dry Erase Markers, Fiskar Blunt End Scissors, 3x5 Lined Index Cards, Red, Green or Blue Ball Point Pen for correcting, Yellow Highlighter.

 

Grades 3 and 4

Pkg White Wide-ruled Loose-Leaf Paper (8 ½ x 11), 2 Yellow Highlighters, Blunt Nose Scissors, 1 Ream White Copy Paper, 2 Green Pens for correcting, 3 Single Subject Wide-lined Spiral Notebooks, Black Dry Erase Markers, 3x5 Lined Index Cards.  IN ADDITION, 4TH GRADE NEEDS TO INCLUDE: 2 Red Pens for correcting, 3-Ring Binder w/Dividers, Student Planner for notes and homework assignments.

NOTICE CONCERNING CLASS PARTIES AND TREATS FOR STUDENTS

Dear Parents,

San Marino School Policy does not permit classroom birthday parties.  We also do not allow flowers, balloons, or any other items to be sent to the classroom.  These are disruptive to the educational process. 

Also, School and District Policy do not allow teachers to hand out cupcakes, cookies, or any other sweet treat to the class in celebration of individual students' special days.  This is part of our Wellness policy and also protects against students getting something at school that they have an allergy to.  We know this is a change and that we are use to bringing these things for our students, but in order to assure all of our students' safety these rules will be strictly enforced.

Additionally this year due to the lack of custodial help, all parties will be held outside of the classroom and no food or drink will be allowed in the classroom without express permission of Principal Helms.
